Watkins Early Childhood Center

Watkins Early Childhood Center is committed to providing a safe and orderly educational environment where all students can learn, achieve, and grow. The school's mission is to educate all students to become enthusiastic, responsible, lifelong learners, and to have a positive impact on the community. Watkins Early Childhood Center offers a Dual Language program, which began in 2022 for PreK students and continues in Katherine Johnson Elementary School. The program, also known as Doble Inmersión Lingüística in Spanish, is offered by the Newport News Public Schools. The school focuses on early childhood education, emphasizing foundational skills and developmental appropriateness, and strives to create an environment that fosters enthusiasm, responsibility, and a love for learning. Additionally, the school provides various resources, including meal menus, student transportation services, and family resources, to support the educational and personal growth of its students.
