Southern Will County Coop for Special Education
Southern Will County Cooperative for Special Education is a unique educational institution that provides special education programs and services to approximately 2240 students with disabilities across ten school districts. The school offers a range of programs, including the Education and Life Skills Program (ELS PreK-8th), which provides students with educational and social experiences to assist them in transitioning to adulthood as active, productive members of their community. Other notable programs include the Communication Adaptive Behavior (CAB) Program, designed for students with Autism or similar learning styles, and the School Therapeutic Program, an intensive, structured, therapeutic treatment program for students who have difficulty functioning in the general education environment. The SOWIC Education Center also provides a strong foundation of academic and social experiences, focusing on developing essential life skills such as respect, personal responsibility, and self-worth. Additionally, the school offers Early Childhood Programs with individualized education plans and certified special education/early childhood teachers.
