Mitchell Child Development Center
Mitchell Child Development Center is a specialized institution that provides a wide range of Early Childhood Special Education programs for children with special needs. The center's philosophy is to offer individual early intervention to children as identified through the assessment process, with programs such as Early Start and SUCSESS designed to support the unique needs of each child. The center serves approximately 400 to 500 children, ages birth to five years, and houses 11 special education preschool programs, a Full Inclusion Head Start program, and an Early Start Program, among others. The school offers various resources, including parent involvement and trainings, typical peers as a component of all programs, and Preschool Assessment Teams to assess children with areas of concern. Additionally, the center provides early intervention programs that are remedial or preventive in nature, focusing on the child, parents, and family, and offered in both school-based and home-based settings.
